They say never mention religion or politics if you want harmony, but hey I'm curious.
The poll is public so don't vote if your beliefs are private.
Feel free to post any thoughts.
Fuck deities, hail Darwin.

Tongue

up to -12C!
In Sweden -42! Tongue

BTW. Perhaps Phil have become a new lucrative job with this poll from some important religous instance? Big Grin
I don't think our team could be mirrored as a representative part of the global population.
I was brought up Roman Catholic, but stopped practicing in my mid teens. Until about the mid 90s I guess I was atheist/agnostic. But now I sometimes seem to experience a kind of mystical connection with things. I find some of Plotinus on the "One" as maybe a clue to what I think may be true.

Interesting answer. I guess you can be religious without believing in a god (as Jainism), but to me being "awake to the numinous" is part of being human and falls short of being religious. Semantics, schmemantics.

I like the ignostic view that god is a meaningless concept, the word is so elastic, and most gods are not falsifiable even in principle. The ones that are, like the childish "man in the sky", are clearly untrue (IMO!)
so far we look like a atheist team Smile
I think also that the god is not as we tought through the thousends of years until now! Yes I also think that god is not as a " old man in the sky"!

I beliew in the mixture between some powerfull inteligence that have the hands on in the whole universum and mistique that we cant explain just right now with our knoweledge.
There must be several thousends "oasis" with different arts and beans in universum. To think we are "allone" its a farse and stupid. We are just one of them. Only the unbeliewebul distances separates us.
(So I use my telescope to search them!) Tongue

Hold just in mind that in that time of some views and sights of "angels" in the bible history explain that the peoples was not ready and on the scientic level and inteligent enough for explanaitons that maybe "walking through stargates or some other portals, wourmholes ec." is from other dimension, prallel universums and maybe other worlds possible, that what in bible menoined as "skys"! What sounds like science fiction, is in the the real scientific modern world a tought that is not unposible, maybe theoritac for now, but not unbelivebul.

Would I saw as a little 8 year child in the early 70h on the time as I watch the first series of "Spaceship Enterprise" with Mr. Spock and Kirk, the today moddern guy with this today iPhones and iPads, also with the flat screens, 3D projections and holograms (vice President Al Gore with his refferat about the Co2 emmisiions whole the world!) I would believ that this guys must be from that space ship at this time throuly!Tongue
But today this is tehnic is present and real.
We are ready for that today!

So the only logical thing is in thema about religion is that it is something there what we cant understand and explain until now, so the humans used that unkloweledge and created there "own" hundreds of religion arts and forms. In my case I dont follow eny of them. Finaly it was created from us humans with many diferent laws, rituals and practicing to make people uniform to following as sheeps!

I would not say that I am not religous. I have poll at christian but I am not confirm with my "old" born in religion, but also I am not a atheist! I believ stil that is something there but didnt find out out what!
My teleskope is in moment too small! Smile

Our real, "inner religion" while learning such throug thing from the bible is that for me:
Do the best what you can to make people, wife, family ec. happy, dont do wrong to your wife and hurts her with other woomens, avoid unnaturaly things and be modest in everything what you do. Dont kill and steal. Ec.....

So many aspects from the bible can not be wrong and dangereus at all if you feel in your heart it as good and warm thing.
What can be dangereus is that the human at all can to enslave you with that! Thats my opinien!

See I would call that agnostic. We should separate agnostic from atheist, but there's only 10 poll options Tongue Surely a Christian believes in salvation through Jesus Christ the Messiah?

In England the number of people who say they go to church (in polls) is too many to fit in our churches. And we all know churches are pretty empty Tongue Seems there's a stigma here. Ask a friend if they're religious and they often say: "Erm, well I'm very spiritual...." Yeah? You wear beads and talk to trees? Pleased for ya.

Good call on Star Trek, the "god of the gaps" argument. Anything that science can't explain yet--that's god! But all the amazing new technology arises from material interactions. There's no supernatural dimension in science.
