Hi Friends,

I know some people are fan of GPL (Juha and Phil especially) and I inform you about the final round of the World Cup.

After 10 months, 32 teams in competition, only 4 teams are still fighting for the title :
- Finland
- England
- France
- Hungary

Yesterday, it was the first race of this final (4 races) in Spa Francorchamps :
The result is here

Standing after 1/4:
Code:
England      25
Finland      19
France       18
Hungary       5

Very good race for the english ace drivers James Dayjur with best laptimes (3:12.5 !!!!!!!!) and John Bradbury 2nd and 3rd. They manage to score 25 points on the track they have chosen for the final (like all teams : France = Kyalami, Hungary = Mosport and Finland = Mexico with Alien Riekkinen Tongue).

Our frenchman aces has known different fortunes : Davy Decorps out after being touched by an hungarian in Les Combes, and Martin Audran won with a solid race after passing Joosa Riekkinen. Good performance in BRM from Antoine de Mautor though.

Finland made a solid event with its 4 drivers at the end (despite 2 Honda, great performance !) and stay in front of France.

But it was horrible for Hungary with Kiss out in the last lap, Balog and Krajsek out as well. Only Szegletes scored but finished last in Eagle (5 points).

Rendez-vous in Mosport now Big Grin
Hey Mickael,

Just saw the replay, fantastic to watch a full field of GPL masters! I'm surprised France ran 2 BRMs & no Hondas, Spa's a good track for Honda compared to "handling" tracks like Mosport.

Look out for James at Mosport btw, he's incredibly quick there Smile

My (not very patriotic) prediction for final standings:

1. Finland
2. France
3. England
4. Hungary

I think I'll be a saddo & watch the next round live on GPL.tv Big Grin

I've already watched the last race in GPLtv and with the replay the day after. It was indeed impressive. I've just said to my mates that James is the king of Mosport Smile We'll see how the things will go Wink

France didn't choose Honda simply because Honda isn't reliable and the top speed of the BRM is used. We'll see for the next races Wink

I think England has the best team : John and James are consistent in GPL competition, Martin is certainly at least as fast as them ; our Davy was one of the best but has stopped for a long long time. I bet on France or England, I feel Hungary nearly out and Finland a little less fast than us together in race (except Riekkinen) but all can happen Big Grin

Oh and Congrats for your WRs, very interesting Smile

He's our hero around here, don't you know! Cool
Meh they're in the slow cars, those records are poor compared to Lotus ones Tongue

Wish I'd been driving GPL all year & taken part in this World Cup. Canada went out in round 1 btw Andy Big Grin

Don't say that! Now Juha will find an excuse to BLAME CANADA for not knocking out the teams that ultimately will defeat those pesky Finns!

If Finland wins the World Cup, I won't have to blame Canada Tongue
Someone's been practicing for round 2 Wink

Race at 17.30 GMT Wink You can follow it with GPLTV.

This track is really the toughest in the competition. I have a chance to drive for France, we had a lot of problems especially with hardware (2 drivers had problem Sad) but my training is very poor so... let's see

GPLTV :
gpltv://217.172.189.72:32025/pw=
then you put it in your browser. If it works (I don't know), you choose 2008 GPL WC server in serverlist...
