Yes it heard about it yesterday evenig and it's was already avalible true "Windows Updates" here.

Yup, but I often have my Windows Updates off (for iRacing), so wasn't sure if others might've been in my position.

It's been forced on my work as well. I got a pop-up installing it, and giving me 1 minute to close my work for the reboot. I guess it's a very critical update. Annoyingly too, because rebooting my laptop takes a few minutes.

No, since not running iRacing
Good thing they released an update immediately, it doesn't take long for vulnerabilities like this to get exploited. After all, it does say "an attacker could exploit this vulnerability
without authentication to run arbitrary code".
First I though Vista was not affected. But it looks like it's affected as soon as you've UAC off. I think MS underestimates the amount of users who have turned off UAC.

Yes, it's annoying, isn't it? Asks for permission everytime you want to do something, sometimes even twice

Btw, I found
this little program which can put UAC to quiet mode = UAC is on but the confirmation dialogs are supressed for admin users. Now that's a critical Windows "update"

Is it needed for the RTM version?
EDIT:-..Read the feckin article Stu!

Not needed for the RTM.
Nice O/S btw... I've gone from 32 bit Win XP to 64 bit Win 7 and I'm very impressed. Glad i missed out Vista altogether. This really is what Vista should have been.
The chip and memory Andy gave me and the mobo the rest of you guys helped me with have finally been put to rest.

They served me well, but they wont be missed
I now have a machine almost worthy of 2007
